Normal parturition can occurs within two weeks before and two weeks after your due dates. The following events may precede the impending parturition.
'Feeling lighter'
A few weeks before the due date, the fetal head drops into the pelvic cavity, and the pregnant woman will feel lighter in her belly, usually with a better appetite ,and much easier breathing.
"Show"
The cervix starts to gradually dilate, releasing the cervial mucus plug mixed with a little blood out to the vaginal opening .
'Abdominal pain or backaches:'
If caused by uterine contractions, will have the following features;
Pain is irregular at the beginning, gradually becoming regular, and the pain gradually increase over time.
Pain is in the whole abdomen and back, especially the tail bone area.
The uterus becomes very hard when in pain ,becoming soft when there is no pain.
Massage and walking will not reduce the pain.
Rupture of membrane.(Copious vaginal discharge)
Rupturing of the amniotic membranes protecting the baby with the amniotic fluid flowing out the vagina ,whether in pain or not, you should proceed immediately to the hospial.
